Lightweight without compromise
The Opia is one of the lightest electric bikes in the world. Thankfully this hasn't resulted in any compromise. The 36V Lithium-ion battery contains 280Wh of energy which, combined with the very efficient road tyres, will deliver an impressive range of up to 60km on medium level pedal assist. The power is also without compromise. The 250W high torque geared motor hub is borrowed from our most popular conversion kit (Samsung Street) and delivers an astonishingly large amount of torque which feels impressive on such a lightweight electric bike.
Stealthy electronics
If you're worried about your coworkers giving you a hard time about 'taking the easy route' by going electric, they will probably have a hard time believing that your new bike is electric assisted. With the frame-integrated battery completely concealed, no visible charge ports, rear hub motor hidden in the back wheel, the Opia is disguising itself as a normal bicycle to the untrained eye! There is also a practical purpose to the clever concealment. The electronics are protected inside the frame and rubber seals and grommets protect the important parts against the most inconvenient deluge.
Industry leading warranty and support
The Opia is backed by one of the best warranties in the industry, from a company that has been around for a long time. 10 year frame warranty, 1-year full warranty on motor, display and controller and 1-year full warranty on the Lithium-ion battery and charger (not pro rata, like some other brands). This is one of the most comprehensive warranties available for an e-bike. When you ride your bike every day, you want to know that should something unexpected occur, you're well and truly covered.
Materials and components
The Dillenger Opia is assembled with quality components that will last. The frame is made from a high strength aluminium alloy which is covered by a 10 year warranty. The motor, controller, LG battery cells, display, wiring harness and charger are all borrowed from our bank of highly reliably e-bike components that feature on most of our products. The handlebar and frame folding joints feature redundant safety latches, in the event that one of these is bumped in transit, the rider will remain safely in control of the bike. This electric bike also features folding pedals, front light, reflectors, adjustable pedal-assist power, adjustable handlebars and seat height, Tektro brakes, and a USB outlet to charge your phone whilst riding.

Bike has exceeded expectations. Ordered another for my wife, she can't wait for it to arrive. People have stopped me and can't believe it's electric. Great bike, great fun.
Thankyou Dillenger. (Posted on 28/07/2017) - Excellent bike - a joy to ride!Review by David

I'm very happy with this bike. It's a very good price, low weight for an electric bike (I can carry it up steps no problem), perfectly adequate battery range (unless you ride all day) and it's nice and compact so I can easily & quickly fold it up in my small flat.Functions as Described Price Overall Rating
The motor control is really smooth - you rarely get any sudden kick-in from the motor (unlike some older electric bikes) - it just makes it so much easier to get up Sydney's hills, especially in summer! The throttle is great for short bursts of power up steep hills or getting away from traffic lights ahead of cars, and I can weave through the traffic to destinations where parking is a nightmare. I haven't done so but it would be quite easy to fold & take on a train or even a bus. This is the way to get around Sydney!
The motor also makes it easy to carry heavy loads - I recommend this rear fold-out pannier bag:

which is just the right size attached to a seat-post rack like this:

My only criticisms are that it could do with a higher gear as it goes faster than I can peddle down only modest slopes (even with the motor switched off), plus I'm wary of the near-zero tread tyres in the rain! (not sure why they use these).

I've had the Opia for a couple of weeks now and I love it, just the perfect thing for commuting to and from work everyday. Handles the Adelaide hills with ease, even the notorious Flagstaff Hill can be taken at about 18 km/h with hardly any pedal effort. I really enjoy overtaking the lycra pedalphiles on my 20" folding bike!Price Overall Rating Functions as Described
The ride is compromised a bit by the small wheels but more than made up for by the fact that those wheels enable it to fit neatly into the back of my tiny hatchback without having to fold the seats down. On the weekends I can park on the outskirts of the city, get out my bike and ride into town without worrying about paying for parking or getting a ticket.
The customer experience with Dillenger has been great, the bike was delivered quickly in good condition, there were a couple of very minor issues, a tiny paint chip on the folding hinge and a broken bell, but I was sent a replacement bell and paint touch-up pen immediately, great service, thank you.
The Opia is very easy to ride (and fold) and quite comfortable, the seat is good, can be a bit jiggly through the handlebars but I blame Adelaide's terrible roads! On smooth cycle paths it's fine. A suspension bike would be more comfortable but of course heavier, I prefer the light weight.
Good points: value for money, ease of use, customer service
Bad points: comfort (if riding on rough roads)
Overall: great bike - recommended!
